Meanwhile, James, a Fresno local with a passion for culinary excellence, sought to bring the vibrant flavors of Japan to his hometown. Their paths crossed at a sushi restaurant—two food lovers from different worlds, united by their love for Japanese cuisine. Together, they created Teppan Tora, blending Sayuri’s deep-rooted expertise from Osaka, known as The Kitchen of Japan, with James’ vision for a bold new dining experience in Fresno. Like the tiger (Tora), their restaurant embodies strength, tradition, and an untamed passion for flavor.
